The Spanish Health Commission and Congress of Deputies have given the green light for the rollout of hemp as an effective treatment option for managing conditions like endometriosis, cancer, chronic pain, and epilepsy.
Other European nations like Malta and Luxembourg are much ahead in the cycle, with adult Luxembourgers over 21 being allowed to home grow at most four cannabis plants, and Maltese people enjoying legal adult-use herb.
Interestingly, the seemingly conservative African continent hasn’t lagged behind in the raging legalization wave. Lesotho made history in 2017 when it issued a license for commercial hemp cultivation for scientific and medical purposes. Consequently, other countries such as Rwanda, South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Uganda have followed suit.
An interesting case in point is the upcoming Kenyan presidential elections, where a relatively unknown candidate, George Wajackoyah of The Roots Party, has shot into overnight popularity after launching his manifesto that strongly advocates for the legalization of ganja.
