My 1st Time: with Jimmi IV

It was high school football season – the weather got colder by the night and the daily grind of academics and sports really started to set in. A lot of stress for a fragile sixteen-year-old mind and all the more reason to see if there’s a way out of it.

Upon coming home from practice, “Jimmi IV” already saw his friends rolling up a blunt. He had seen them smoking before and curiosity as to what all the hype was about had already been more than present.

“Not to mention, my best friend had just died,” Jimmi shares. “And I was like, I need something to get my mind off of it.”

The first blunt satisfied Jimmi enough to spark another at his house. Unfortunately, this second one kicked in a little too hard.

“It was just too much for me,” Jimmi goes on. “I remember my chest was tight and I was forgetting to breathe.”

Some refer to this sensation as “Greening Out.” While cannabis has been found to curb nausea, it can also induce it. Especially in those who don’t quite know what they’re getting themselves into.

As with most adolescents who get high for the first time, Jimmi didn’t know what he was getting himself into.

“I hopped in the shower and the walls were spinning and I wasn’t sure what the hell was going on anymore,” Jimmi laughs, recalling it all as a fond, distant memory.

“It was an out-of-body experience,” he continues. “Especially, not knowing how to breathe. That was the biggest thing. But I figured out it was all in the head. And that was it. I’ve been getting high ever since.”

It’s safe to say the majority of cannabis smokers out there experience what Jimmi felt at one time or another. Cannabis has a funny way of catapulting our brains to mindsets we never expected – whether good or bad.

Realizing it’s all just in the head is essential. It’s a reminder that the experience is only a temporary product of ourselves. An experience where we’re given a choice – to ease life’s many complications or to promote them.

Make the right choice. Choose like Jimmi.
