Cannabis connoisseurs, tie-dyed potheads and even those who don’t partake speak highly of this film. There are no major spoilers in this write up if you’ve never seen it, so don’t worry.
It centers around 4 best friends living together in a crammed New York City apartment…just livin’ their lives. Until one of them goes to jail and needs bail money. Bail money for what?…well, you’ll just need to see for yourself.
Lines like “Yo, I’m Cuban B!” or “If I wasn’t Jamaican…then why would I wear this hat? Hmm?” have been recited thousands, if not millions of times by stoners, squares and everyone between.
It stars Dave Chappelle, Harland Williams, Jim Breuer and Guillermo Díaz. Y’all have probably watched Dave’s standup before…but if you’ve never watched Jim’s & Harland’s you’re missing out. They’re both fantastic in their own ways.
Harland Williams works a room like no on else that I’ve seen. Laugh a little too loud or sit in anywhere near the front with a unique shirt…he’s gonna call you out and it’ll be a TREAT!!! He’s very interactive with the audience. Been to dozens of his shows and he’s always got something new to say. Do yourself a favor and buy one of his comedy albums or check out a show when you get the chance. It’s worth it.
Back to the movie though. It’s got a bunch of cameos. From a Baldwin brother, to Jon Stewart, your favorite TV dad Danny Tanner (Bob Saget) and many more…all with great lines. It’s got some off the wall scenes and even a conspiracy theory involving a dog and his brother.
It’s available just about everywhere, and you’re sure to know someone who’s willing to sit down and watch it with you. Or watch it alone. Share it with someone who’s never had the pleasure. If you’ve already watched this movie…perhaps it’s about time to watch it again.
As usual don’t be too hard on the movie…and just let yourself enjoy the show.
